RE: 1962 newport, 300, new yorker

thanks, Dan...I love the car....and I'm learning alot as I go, so I look forward to posting strange questions.
There aren't many of these around any more, are there? It's art in motion.
Two tone blue, factory a/c...new interior/headliner, it's all there and most of it shines...and it runs smooth and fast...It's just...cool. I never knew the bigger older Mopars. I've had a 67 Barracuda conv.with a spotless slant six for years, it'll be done soon. Ha...
First question of many to come....
What do you think a resonable price for a new dashpad...well, recovered/restored dashpad that will match stock somewhat? I got a quote of $1000, and just laughed...but really?

Hi Reddevil,

Regarding the electro-luminescant dash, as you later noted, there are no
bulbs. There is a power supply located under the drivers side kick panal
(The plastic under the dash and ahead of your driver's side door opening} up
high. It's about 6 inches long, 1 1/2 inch wide and a bit over an inch thick.
It takes 12 volts DC and if I understand right, creates a very high frequncy
AC that causes the special paint of the dash and instruments to glow. It
looks real nice the first time you see ti at nice. Like Star Wars way before
Star Wars. This is one feature I love about this era's Chryslers.

I'm glad to see someone herer with a 62 Chrysler big body! I have quite a
few. (5 Newports and one 300, all 1962. I also have a lot of parts in
varying degrees of condition from NOS, to "why havn't I trown this away
yet?". I am presently overseas, but plan on getting back to the States
sometime this summer. ANy advice on the 62's I'll be glad to help with what
I know.

Dan from Nevada

Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. I.e., send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
