Fwd: decoding VIN and fender tag




  Thanks D170A833@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for decoding my VIN and fender tag. I still would like to know what the 57 under engine on my build sheet stands for. Anyone able to help?

"54" is Polara 500, "5" is a convertible

"85" is Polara 500 buckets, "5" is Red vinyl.

PP is Red exterior paint, "6" is 396 black convertible top. 
"U" would be an accent color, "U" for exterior colors is Biege,
but I don't know if there is a seperate set of codes for the accent 
colors...  (there were in later years),,  the accent color would
be the back ground color on the big rectangular trim on the rear 
1/4,, and the fender top trim inset color..

533 is a 3.23:1 sales code.
