Re: Centerforce Clutch problem

McLeod, although I think they were recently acquired by Hurst or B&M or some such. Supposedly the quality and expertise was not supposed to decline, but I don't know if they've actually stayed up to par. Anyway, my brother has their biggest available street clutch behind his dual quad 440, running a 3.23 and 255/60R15 tires in his '65 Belvedere. Clutch doesn't slip. I don't think I have any slippage in my C-body Polara with the Luk 12" (oversized disc just barely fits on the 11" flywheel), and I'm running the same gear and tires, but I'm not making the same power he is.

I spent $49 from Brewers to REPLACE the missing overcenter spring in my
Polara, but the pedal still rests about 2" lower than the brake. Why do
you guys remove the spring? I am also interested in this post because
I'm replacing my Zoom clutch this winter and haven't decided which way
to go yet. My clutch only has 1500 miles on it, but I can spin the
clutch out slamming 2nd gear. I can launch in 2nd burning the tires, but
it won't hold if I shift it hard. I think it's because Zoom clutches are
junk. What do you guys recommend for a 64 Polara, 426, with 3:91 gears
and 28" tall tires?

Dave,

My car had a 3 finger Hayes clutch in it when I bought it, and it had no

over center spring in it then, or now.
