RE: Mixed up valves

Well, if the guides aren't in the budget at this time, check each valve
in the guides and try to match them to the least possible worn guides.
You should be able to find an automotive machine shop to install bronze
guide liners for about 10 to 15 bucks a guide. Take a flat file to the
keeper groove area to eliminate any small burrs from the grooves as this
will facilitate putting the valve in the guides easier and prevent
damage to the guide. When checking for guide wear, be sure to have the
valve in the area of travel when checking for slop. Good Luck.

Thanks, Scott, great to hear from you!

The reason I ask is I've got a set of used big block valves on the
shelf, that have been cleaned, re-faced, and the tips trued up. I've
also got a pair of real good heads that are bare. Was just wondering if

I could put those re-done used valves in the bare heads, after having
the seats resurfaced.
