Re: Electric Fans / Shrouds

I have been having heating issues with my 472 in the Polara. It only
has the 22" rad. I tried a 7 blade direct drive flex fan, no good,
have an original 7 blade direct drive max cooling fan, no good, and
then what the car came with a VERY light, plastc Flex-a-lite direct
drive fan. As long as the car is moving the engine runs at 170-175
degrees. When I stop she'll go as high as 210 before I turn the car
off. Since installing water wetter and a 165 thermostat it has not
gone above 205, but I did not have a shroud. I installed a date
correct fan shroud last night and we'll see this weekend how it goes,
I'll keep everyone posted. Next step is a viscous fan if the current
set up doesn't keep it cool, after that, electric fan for sure, I want
to keep it looking as factory as possible. I know, I know, the 472 is
not factory, but it keeps brand X enthusiasts guessing.
