Ted,
That's a good description of what I've got as far as the engine goes. I also
have a 4 speed. All of this is in a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 convertible. I
replaced the Carter with the Edelbrock last fall and don't even remotely
like the performance compared to the Carter. With the Carter 4 bbl opened
up, the car really jumped. The place that put the carb on is your average
auto repair shop that probably felt that the carb was on and working. No
disrespect to the job they did in any way. I want more performance out of
the car and didn't say it in a way that was totally understood. I don't want
to race the car, but when I have that urge to spend some of that expensive
gas quickly, I want to fell like I'm spending it fast!!

BTW, thanks for all the replies to my question.

Dave;

Check the 383 article in Nov & Dec 07 and Jan 08 Hot Rod before you do
anything, it probably will help.  With a stock engine and torqueflite your
going to lose low end power & some drive ability with a bigger carb.

I am wanting to replace the Edelbrock 600 on my 383 but am wondering if one
Brand is better than the other. Am going to up the cfm to 750 in whatever
Brand. What say you club members?
