Re: Layson.

Mopar was and still is a division of Chrysler LLC (formerly DaimlerChrysler Corporation and before that Chrysler Corporation).

There were rumours going around that Chrysler was going to sell it, but that is all they were - idiotic rumours. And even if Mopar was no longer owned by Chrysler LLC, the parts were designed and engineered by Chrysler LLC, not Mopar. Thus all rights to all parts used in Chrysler LLC vehicles that were designed and engineered by Chrysler LLC and its predecessors, belong to Chrysler LLC.

Make an example of Laysons? They had every right to do what they did and it is about time they got tough. Do you think Ford and GM just sit on their hands when a company makes reproduction products and uses their logos without their approval?

As long as a company has Chrysler's approval to make reproduction parts and use the name/logo, they have nothing to fear. Just like all the firms making reproduction Ford and Chevy parts.

In this world of ripoff parts and lawsuits, GM, Ford and Chrysler all need to protect themselves. And us.

I've never had any dealings with Layson's. But - I don't like the fact that Chrysler who doesn't even own their parts division anymore (last I knew), is pulling stuff like this on vendors who are making parts for our cars (assuming the risk) that Chrysler has no plans on repopping. I hope Chrysler isn't planning on making this a habit or an example out of Layson's. The impact on classic MoPar owners could be significant.

This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
