Re: Paint Guns/Ollie's Ramblings

You guys that do your own paint jobs really impress me, someday I am going to take a paint class and do my own. I paid 8K for the body and paint work on my 65 Dodge from a "restoration" shop here in Indiana and it was a total easte of money, I could go on for hours about it but no sense in boring you guys more than I already do. The moral of the story is to get a good job, do it yourself, no one cares about your car as much as you do. By the way Ollie, I haven't forgotten about you on the N.O.S. parts we talked about a month or so ago, I am waiting on my friend to come through.

My hats off to you Jeff for painting your own car! Paint itself is the last step and sanding and prep work is the paint job. The more u rub prior to paint, the better it looks. A story about paint guns: My buddy Charley Bolluck , owns a body shop. He can spill a gallon of paint on a vehicle and it looks better than most spray jobs. I am a suction gun Binks 7 man. Told Charley I need to modernize and become a gravity man. His answer was a Harbor Frieght $39..thats all he uses. After a couple of paint jobs he down grades his to primer guns. Then trashes em. His opinion is he will take that extra money and invest it in beer and wild woman. Just one mans opinion vs Sata. They are supposed to be the best. I did upgrade to a HF gravity $39 for my Petty Stock Car project. I have sprayed the primer. Just first application no sanding yet. Will do that after we get motor installed and running. It does not "feel" right in my hand. The spray is weird. Unless I am alot more impressed think I may go back to old reliable "Binks 7" for the paint. Guess I am just an old wacko pollutor. Next time u get into a global warming discussion you can say I know Ollie...he won't change ...he is a bad man.. a "pollutor"
