RE: new windshields

Not that I'll be replacing my windshield anytime soon... too many other 
things to work on,  but I've seen very few cars of our vintage with the 
"bubble" windshield

looks cool, but you never see them.. were they engineered poorly, so 
very few survive? does anyone makes them anymore?
