Re: stuck piston thoughts

The torch would probably work good. I have drilled holes through a piston to help in removing. If you are not trying to save the block you may just try to crack the cylinder wall to get it loose.

If all else fails, use a bigger hammer.

I soaked the old 318 motor pistons with Marvel Mystery Oil for a week, but was unable to get one of the pistons unstuck and pushed out of the block. No budge even pounding on it with a small sledge and steel bar. It is amazing how much power rust has! Anyway, I don't have a cutting torch but I was thinking of using a sawsall to cut s chunk off the connecting rod so I can remove the part of the rod connected to the crank and then hopefully turn the crank so I can get to removing the other pistons.
The other thought was to use a propane torch to heat up the stuck piston to see if that would help un-stick it.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

p.s., the block is going to scrap, but I was trying to save the crank.
