RE: stuck piston thoughts

I have a badly rusted 440 that I need to get apart - I thought about using a
hole saw centered on the piston (maybe 2 1/2-3"?) to free the rod so the
crank can be removed, then break out what is left of the piston.

Any thoughts?

Subject: stuck piston thoughts

I soaked the old 318 motor pistons with Marvel Mystery Oil for a week, but
was unable to get one of the pistons unstuck and pushed out of the block. No
budge even pounding on it with a small sledge and steel bar. It is amazing
how much power rust has! Anyway, I don't have a cutting torch but I was
thinking of using a sawsall to cut s chunk off the connecting rod so I can
remove the part of the rod connected to the crank and then hopefully turn
the crank so I can get to removing the other pistons.

The other thought was to use a propane torch to heat up the stuck piston to
see if that would help un-stick it.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Gary H.
p.s., the block is going to scrap, but I was trying to save the crank.
