Re: engine compartment

My 64 Dodge is Dune Beige and the support is body color. This car is all original and has not been repainted. I have a 65 Med Blue Plymouth Bel 1 with 57,000 and it is body color also.

Light cars got black paint sprayed from a "pit" as the car want overhead and was sprayed at a 45 degree angle. This is as you know so no body color is seen though the grille. Black/dark blue didnt get this process.Dark colors only

Not sure if this holds true for the 62-65 cars and never
say never with Mopar but the 66/67 Charger group did
extensive research into this and found it's exactly what MO
just said. The light colored cars got the black sprayed on
the front of the radiator support and the darker colored
cars did not.

Seems like Herb is right. I think they sprayed black from
underneath to the
front of the radiator support and was not concerned with
getting it ALL
neatly painted. . This is on the cars that were light
colored enough to
show thru the grill. The darker colors may not have been
painted black.
And Herb-- we will have to check with D-500 Neil to
find where the correct
overspray should show!! LOL!!!( inside joke) :-) .......MO

I'm not sure but isn't the core-support sprayed black in
the front, so you
see black through the grill and not the color of the
car? I seem to
remember reading they had someone in a pit spraying black
up from the
underside.

Pretty big question. The body including the engine
compartment, doors, hood,
deck lid and fenders but not the under body get painted
body color. I
don't think I'm over generalizing when I say nothing else
is body color.

The rest is a science. Anybody got a compile list they
could pass on to us?
