Re: Racing Polys

Heavy? - not like my current one.  My current 440 powered '65 weighs 3775 with
me in the seat.  The old car when we moved it onto formula stock had to pretty
much had to have a full tank of gas to make weight. That was 3210#.  I don't
know what it weighed in at as a Pure Stocker but I'll bet it wasn't over
3,350#.  We worked very hard to get the weight out of it, mostly legal stuff but
a few things were legal only because we never got caught!  (if the ref don't
call it, it's legal.)

BTW - the car when it ran Formula Stock had a 318, but it was a wedge motor.
We developed a very creative interpretation of the rules to get the wedge
approved in lieu of the poly and AHRA/IHRA gave us a letter approving it. That
combo held a number of National Records, also.
