Bill,

I understand your problem.  I have had one Pertronix Flame Thrower III 
fail.  

The only good thing to say is that their tech help was good and my unit 
was repaired and returned in a resonable time.  

I have the Flame Thrower III because it has the internal rev limiter. I 
need some protection for when I get stupid with the 4-speed.  I bought 
the complete distributor that I don't recommend, it looks stock from a 
distance but is actually larger.  I had to take some metal off of the 
head and valve cover to use it.

I carry a box in the trunk with a single point distributor, tools and a 
timing light.  I am not going to get stuck due to electronics.

Just my thoughts.
