On one of the links I sent out to D.U.I., look around at the bottom of the plug wire page (might be for the specific make/make like Dodge/Chrysler).  They also carry the "burnproof" sleeves.  Infact, their plug wires have this all the way around them too.  Sometimes its the boot, sometimes its the wire which causes the short.  Usually from getting burned up by headers.  Good tips from a lot of people.  I will use some on my car too.

Another trick that i found years ago for fixing burnt wires after i kept burning them on my "NEW"69 Super Bee 383 mag after installing a set of Heddman 2 piece hedders was a set of the old factory porcelin boots that came on the old HEMI's.This is just another trick that might work depending on your situation.Worked for me and it stopped it from burning and shorting my wires.
