Well, I got my new wheels and tires together in time for Carlisle.
Thanks to everyone for their advice.  My car's a 63 Polara 500.  I
went with 225 70 R 14 up front and 275 60 R15 in back.

In back I replaced the stock wheels with 15x8 from Wheel Vintiques
from Summit Racing.  They have 4.5 inch back spacing.  With the 275's,
I have about 1/2 inch clearance on the springs and about 1 3/4
clearance on the fender.  I guess the 65's and 63's are slightly
different from each other.

I managed to make my 14 inch hubcaps work on the 15x8 wheels.  I
wanted to keep them because on the Polara 500 they're the 'spinner'
type full cover, which I like.  I found a pair of 15 inch trim rings
(i.e. beauty rings) that the 14 inch caps fit into nicely.  A friend
of mine was able to TIG weld them together.  They're stainless steel,
and the welding is a little sketchy, but I think solid enough.  I may
try to reinforce it with a little JB weld here and there.  I'll be
sure to use the same amount on opposite sides to keep it balanced.
Maybe there's a better welding technique?

The valve stems are a little short though; I'll have to get longer ones.

A little "Rube Goldberg", but it works for me.  I'm not trying to wind
any trophies.
