Re: Update oil pressure

Jacob,
Just use the stock replacement pump and you won't loose the horsepower it takes to drive the higher pressure/volume units, save money, and be safe.

I was talking to some friends, they said I shouldnt get a "high performance" oil pump. Being that the motor is original etc, I should get a oem replacement, cause otherwise I might create leaks. What do y'all think? Kinda makes sense with older gaskets seals etc, with the higher volume and pressure. Just a thought.

Diesel oil rated CI was what had lots of ZDDP; the newer diesel oils (CJ rating) have much less, afaik.

The following link, from a company that sells specialty oil, has the general theme correct: the more "modern" the oil gets the less friendly it is for our push rod Mopar engines.

Also, www.BradPennRacing.com is another specialty oil source.

Valvoline sold VR1 racing oil with zinc. I think it is still available.

And thanks to Steve C. for sending the Z-Alt link, I was just about to hit "send" when his mail arrived.

Maybe some here will know if it still has zinc but I have been using
Rotella T diesel oil in everything except my new vehicles. I even use
it in my motorcycle. It did and hope still does contain good
   additives for our cars.
