361 Engine suggestions

Hey guys... just thought i'd throw this out and see what I can learn!  I have a 64 dodge 880 custom with a 361... I changed the belts and hoses the other day... what would be some good ways to improve the engine and get it running the best I can?  I do want to get it rebuilt in the next couple of years... but I thought i'd ask and see what I can do in the mean time!  Thanks guys!
