Re: Junk Yard Tools ??

Funny you mention that, I went through a couple of yards over by my uncles house on the Palm Coast and afterwards walked to a bunch of old guys sitting in the shade and asked the owner about a rear in a road runner. The owner asked me where I saw this particular car and I told him how I waded through the waist high grass and crawled up under the car to check it out, mind you I was wearing shorts to boot. The look on these old guys faces was priceless and then they all clucked like hens when the owner said VERY sternly "Boy, where the hell are you from", to which I replied Indiana sir, after another round of clucks from the old guys, the owner said "Boy, there are serious snakes out there, DO NOT Ever go in there with out coming to get me.

The fact I turned white as a ghost must have been good enough for the owner because he calmed and by this time they were all rolling on the ground laughing, I was glad to have made their day but even more glad the damn snakes must have been sunning somewhere else,LOL

I remeber years ago going into airport towing in Orlando Florida one summer day when they first opened in the morning and staying there dismantling a 67 Belvidere until just after noon. When I came out of there the first thing I did was get at least 3 or 4 pops out of the machine and down them rather quickly, a little dehydration had set in,LOL

The counter guy couldn't believe I stayed back ther so long, he immediately offered me a job on the spot, he said that not one of the locals would do that, can't say as I blame them. Take some water!!!

Make sure to bring water (fluid), It gets hot in those yards. A few rags and maybe some safety glasses for the undercarriage crawl.

I try to think of everything that I MIGHT pull from the car, and then
basically empty my tool box into my tool bag. I always take a hand
truck and pull my tools around on that. Makes hauling heavy parts up
to the exit easier too. Don't forget bungies to strap things down
with.

I definitely would like to get an electric impact though. I'll
probably look for an 18V DeWalt as I have their drill/sawsall/circular
saw combo too.
