RE: 65 Coronet 727 Trans Shift Shaft Seal

Have you cleaned the area thoroughly? It might help to see the problem

I did clean & make sure pan was straight.   It leaks sitting or after I run it.  From what I can see its coming from around the shaft, I am hoping its the only cause.  The repair manual is for a 65 coronet.

Thanks

On your 65 727 it might be a lot bigger project than you realize to drop the valvebody to replace the throttle seal to circumvent prying it out.  If your familiar working around 62 - 65 transmissions you will be OK.  What year repair manual are you referencing?   Also have you narrowed the leak/leaks down to the seal, the O rings or just a bad cable/cables.  Does it leak all the time or only after its been sitting for a while.  When you replaced the filter & fluid did you replace the gasket and clean all mounting surfaces and straighten the pan around the bolt holes?

Thanks all!  Yeah I was looking in the repair manual but it didn't really go into detail on the replacement of the seal.  I was thinking of just prying it out with a screwdriver but was reading on it & found that people didn't recommend doing it that way.  I will go ahead and try to cheap way to fix it & hopefully I get lucky with it solving the leak.

Thank you everyone for your input!
