Re: whats the best muffler

Steve, I don't know anything about Super 40s, but Flowmaster told me I needed 40s  for my 2000 Ram. I ordered direct from them, Installed them, and everyone who rode in the back seat said the roar (drown) was so loud that they couldn't hear anyone talking in the front seat. I called them back and told them their recommendation was up the creek and I was returning it to them. They really didn't like it but I told them I bought it on their techs advice about being quite. They then recommended their 50 series and that would do the job. I told them I'd try them but if I had the same results that I was sending them back. I took the 50s to my muffler shop to have them installed. They sold Flowmasters and stocked them but had never seen any 50s. They said they really liked them(they looked like any other Flowmasters to me). I couldn't believe the difference. I had a deep sound that sounded good to me and now anyone in the back can carry on a conservation with anyone in the front. You can here the deep sound in the truck but there's no drone. I liked them so well I put them on my 65 Satellite with 440. Same results. They cost more but I'm sold on them. I used Borlas on my 09 Charger because of the change from 8 to 4 to 8 cylinders and had no drone when running on 4 or 8 cylinders. They were actually a little quiter at idle but good lord, they sound so great when you kick it. No one has any trouble hearing it. Hope this might help you.

I really like the 50 series Flowmasters. I have a 440 in my Satellite and they have a deep rich sound with no interior noise. They are the only ones that I ever found that had that deep sound with no interior noise in the back seat of my 2000 Dodge Ram 360.
