RE: Muffler Preferences

A few years back, my exhaust guy recommended what he calls “bottles” over glass packs. Partially because glass packs are illegal here, and mostly because these bottles last longer than glass packs. They look like Cherry Bombs, but are more like a muffler inside. But still straight-through, no restrictions. I first used them on my ’65 Coronet with turkey pipes. The sound was awesome. So when I had the exhaust on my ’62 Dart done, I went with the same. And the sound, again, is great.

The Poly has a different tone than any other engine, so I’m not sure how much different they would be on any other engine. But after my experiences, I sure would try them.

As for not being able to get 2.5” over the rear axle, I would have to agree with the assessment that that shop may not be the most experienced. I would shop around….

Still like the straight through glass packs.  That's the sound I'm after.  I have the old "bullet" style glass packs on my '63 still, but gotta do some exhaust in the next couple years.  All the big high flow mufflers do nothing for me.  Had the "turbo" muflers on my last 63 Hardtop and never did like the sound, still like the old style rumble.  Thats just me though......
