You didn't mention what your engine is . Is it 4 speed ? I see you have Cal Tracs. It does sound like the gear set-up may be wrong . I wonder about a bent houseing?.............................MO

The 742 is the strongest 8 3/4" . You have other problems like set-up/ etc.
