Right. You shouldn't need one, and my experience with the Belvy supports that.

You don’t need a proportioning valve unless you go 4 wheel disc. All drums or disc just on the front no need for it.

I am thinking about updating my 64 Barracuda to go from the single-line braking system to a dual-line system, and using a full brake-line kit, in conjunction with a new master cylinder and proportioning valve block to get there.  I was thinking that if I use a master cylinder and line kit (either pre-bent or bend-your-own) from a 68-69 Dart/Barracuda, that would work.  I do not plan on going from drum to disk, just keeping the drums all the way around.
 
Wouldn't this later A-body brake system work on the 64 Barracuda (Slant 6/ manual brakes)?  I am trying to keep this a relatively simple procedure, while updating the system for safety (I know disks are safer.  Don't want to go there...).
