RE: Carburetor Choice

Mine was similar but I did not bore the block stock pistons and manifolds on duel exhaust .  used a 800 cfm avs and it ran great.  For those of you scoffing  I have a copy of the dyno sheet that says it was perfect!!  The sniffer was showing during the dyno pulls (all 3)  that it was perfect!! The dyno operator even commented “wow that’s amazing for a carburetor”    they only tune efi cars.    Yes a 650-750 would probably work better but I never had any issues and joey ( now owner) thrashes it relentlessly and says he cant believe how good it runs.  By the way car went from northern Indiana ( my house ) to l.a. California  (Joe’s house) without a hitch or a hiccup.   Other than all the people flagging him down to check out the car.  Hehehehe

Subject: Carburetor Choice

Since my son is visiting from Phoenix, we put the newly-rebuilt Poly 318 with a four-barrel intake into my 64 Fury on Sunday.  Now, I need to make a choice on carburetors.  I have AFBs, AVS and Thermoquads (No Holleys - don't want any) available in my used stockpile, all of which need to be rebuilt.  I am thinking that a 550-650 cfm unit would be good, as Gary upgraded my Poly with a slightly hotter cam, and we took it .30 over.  I'm not looking at taking the old rag-top to the drags, but just want some good driving and "get-up" on the street.  Thoughts?
