Thanks for the advice guys.  As always very helpful.  Gary, I printed out that article; good stuff.  Took a while to try it since I was away on a cruise to the Bahamas with the family :)

Steve Mick, you're right about the neutral starter switch.  I did a little searching and found you can pull the brown wire off the starter relay and run the tab to ground to bypass the neutral starter switch.  Turned over good and started right up.

I'm having trouble finding one for the right year (1963 Polara 500, 383 auto). 

Anyone know a source?   Are later years interchangeable?  Does it do any damage to anything to drive with it bypassed?
