Switching 3 speed manual tranny for 4 speed in 63 Savoy /6

Hi,

I have a friend with a 63 Savoy with a slant six 3 on the tree and wants to put in a four speed.

He knows that he needs the shifter hump to attach to the floor hump but is wondering about the transmission support.

He heard that the top of the cross member above the tranny needs to be trimmed and I have not heard or seen any mention of that.

Also, will the 4 speed bolt up to the 3 speed bell housing?

Is the transmission mount the same?

btw, my friend Jeff is changing his 4 door Savoy to a 2 door sedan after gathering the information that I had asked on his behalf a month or two ago.  THanks.

Regards,

K.
