Help appreciated: A friend of a friend bought some tail light lenses for his 1965 Coronet at Carlisle. When he got home to install them, they would not fit. He has not been able to match them up with anything. Any help decoding the lenses he purchased?

Not counting station wagons, there are four different taillamp lenses for the '65 Coronet: left/right, and with/without reversing (back-up) lights which were still optional in '65.

AAAY 1

Not meaningful

DPCD

Dodge-Plymouth-Chrysler-DeSoto, an old marking present on many parts long after DeSoto went away

2606017

Casting number -- no relation to part number.

DPP

Not meaningful

SAE STDP 65 WS

Lamp conforms to the versions of SAE technical standards for the stop (brake) light and the rear position (tail) light functions that were current as of 1965. "W" is for Coronet, and "S" is ambiguous but not important (would need to see what a '65 Coronet wagon lens says to disambiguate the "S").

The photos and markings make these lenses definitely '65 Coronet items. Most likely, the mixup is trying to install "with backup lights" lenses on a car without, or vice-versa.
