Re: Poly Header Wrenches

on the poly tti headers I took a small ball peen hammer and placed it on the back side of those tight spots and gentley tapped with another hammer to make alittle more room, not much but alittle, it helped a lot. I also used reducing studs in those tight spots, and the RV sealer as those bottom holes are in the water jacket.

There is no way you can use a tool that approaches the bolt straight on from the top. You must install and tighten the bolt from the side. The issue on the poly is that the bolts are above and below the ports and the header tube turns down so tightly that there is very minimal clearance to even get the bolt into the hole. That is why studs are not used as there isn't enough space to start a nut on top of it. Yes there are a few, and I mean few, bolts that can be tightened with a small socket. I was considering installing a stud or two in those cases to help align the gasket and header for installation. I am not sure if that will even work with the engine in the car as it may limit the wiggle room to get past the steering gear box. The BB's have it better with the studs horizontally on the ports as opposed to the vertical poly bolts. A stock exhaust manifold is a different story.

That approach seems like a reasonable one. Anyone try this on the Poly with those headers?
