Re: 727 Trans parts

The AMC 727s are a easy swap from what I have been told replacing the old BW trannys.  I have never done a conversion but I have seen several done at shows.  People get a big smile when you ask them about it.  Always get the comment "Good Eye!"  I'm sorry I misread your post I was thinking you were doing the swap in your American from a DJ5.  my bad!  Are you going Postal with it or custom?  BTW PO vehicles are AMG (AM General) not AMC (American Motors Corp.).  What version do you have DJ5 C,D, or F?

Thanks for the help guys. Got a Napa # for the plug. Solved my spring issue at the hardware store.

Going to change the trans oil and filter today. Got the rubber pan gasket and filter at Napa.

Just for your personal knowledge and info the 727’s that AMC used in their vehicles were purchased from Chrysler. The internals are 100% Chrysler but the bell housings and splines match AMC patterns.

Herb, sure wish I had another option for my AMC Rambler American other than the Borg Warner trans. But I did get a great re-build, I located a old AMC dealer and he did a suburb  job. Wish I could have used a 727.

NAPA should have or can get the  three prone switch.  Probably have spring that will work.

Hi Everybody,
I am working on my new project and I need a couple of transmission parts. I have a 727 Mopar transmission in my AMC DJ-5 Postal Jeep. The trans is 1975-1980 vintage.

I need a electrical plug that goes on the neutral safety/ backup light switch. This is a three prong switch.

I also need the spring that goes on the kick-down throttle linkage at the transmission.

Anyone have these parts they can sell me?
