We have been trying to develop a "rule of thumb" if you will and I'm not saying it's always true but seems like the closer to 106 center line the better a cam will perform in a big block with appropriate maniflods.  To the point we had the mopar performance 284\528 mechanical purple shafts and you could put your foot the floor and it wouldn't wind up .  Well yes if you put a brick on thw peddle, and walked away it would.  But what I mean is the motor had no snap. No bite.  Memory says it was a 112 c.l. Going to a 106 c.l. And more overlap 302 duration adv.  It's a copy of an old experimental crane cam.  Crane had the blank but refused to grind it so we sent it to cower they patterned it and made a new one for us.  Before the lobes were ground off in the late 80's it ran very well can't wait to see how it do now.  Putting it in a 413

Same results. Won't pull past 5200 RPM.  Ignition is all new.  Only thing I noted after the run was the timing after the run was at 40 deg advanced. Guess I did not reset it after I put on the MSD 6AL. 

Didn't make another run for various reasons.

Carb is about all I have left to pick on.  Plugs were right on or maybe a bit on the lean side if anything..Calling Compuflow in Medina this week for guidance.

Any ideas?

Leaving shortly for the first day of racing at Norwalk (Summit Raceway Park).  Test-n-Tune day.  They expect 600 cars.

With the new MSD ignition, expect to hit my goal of a sub-12 second run today.  Weather will be near or below 70 so the air will be good.
