Re: Electrictric Fuel Pump - Where to Mount?

be careful using both,,,,,,,,should the diaphram happen to rupture on the mechanical one, your crankcase may end up full of gas

That's not a bad idea to have both mechanical and electrical pumps. Many do that but only use the electric for vapor lock and start up issues. My friend has that on his 66 Charger but had never remembered to use it :-)

If I left it with an approximation, somebody with a calculator would send a response with a calculated value.

Now there's a new twist I hadn't considered - a weak pump.  Easy enough to check.  Pump 5 gallons from one container to another and time it.  I can do that. Even at a peak of 110 GPH, that's only about  just less than 2 gallons a minute. At 48 GPH, that's less than a gallon a minute. Actually, to transfer 5 gallons, it would take 2.73 and 6.25 minutes at 110 and 48 GPH, respectively.

hi don,

do you think your pump may not be performing up to spec?

my '64 fury street car has a mallory pump located similar to yours with a mechanical pump (i use this pump as a regulator and so i do not get stranded if i have a e-pump failure).  i run a holley double pumper with out any problems at high RPM (11.89 et).  i would check your pump out before going to a cell and all the associated plumbing (unless you want to).

if you do go to a cell, look at the way i did it on my '65 satellite so you do not end up cutting up your trunk floor.
