741 cases was used on the MW cars if Im correct. They did not go to 742 cases until 66. Unless you have slicks and a hard launch you wont break a 741 with street tires. I run a 741 in a vehicle I race and Ive never had trouble. BTW there is only one size axle.   741 was also used in A vans and trucks usually with a 55 or 91 gear.  If you want to buy a new gear you may have to go to a 742 or 489. Don't know about gear availability for a 741 case.

If you are gojng to a 413, I would install a  742 ( last three numbers) differential.  They have a larger pinion shaft and bolt right in your housing. Make sure the axle end thrust block in the center is the same on both..............................MO
