RE: Moroso Accumulator

Interesting product – although we have all started engines that sat for years without such a thing.  I ran my Poly several years after reviving it form a 20 year slumber.  Also running a 472 Cadillac that had 150,000 miles on it before going to sleep for 20 years – that engine has fine oil pressure, does not smoke and has very little blow-by.

Quite the video here – although would be better if demo’d with an actual running engine – they simulate it with air pressure.  http://www.jegs.com/p/Moroso/Moroso-Oil-Accumulators-Accessories/745635/10002/-1

The part I don’t get – is this thing is supposed to save oil starvation from the oil pick-up – yet it contributes up to a quart or more of oil not being in the pan........  Kind of a contradiction...........

Hi David,

I'm a little late to this party, but I have 2 vehicles with accumulators (a third in the works). My truck sits for months at a time and my 66 wagon sits all winter so I installed accumulators on both. Precharge is 6 PSI empty. I use solenoid valves (switched) on all to "capture" oil pressurized at a higher RPM before parking the vehicles. On the wagon I have a dash gauge to show pressure on the "air" side of the piston. When starting, I turn the key to "run" position and flip the toggle switch to open the accumulator to the oil system and watch the "air" side pressure drop as the engine oil pressure gauge rises simultaneously before cranking. Makes me feel good!

Mopar Guys,

I bought this 65 Dodge that has a Moroso Accumulator.
I have read about it but wonder if anyone has experience.
How do you pressurize it and at what pressure? Any tips for use?
Probably could call Moroso but always appreciate this sites advice before I mess something up.
Just need the 1-2-3 basics to set up correctly not a 6 page article.
Thanks for any input
David
