Re: Moroso Accumulator

You add an additional 1 1/2 quarts to the total capacity of the pan.  Nonetheless, I would agree with your old school thinking on start-up unless one has perhaps $15K or more into their build.  In that case I guess it would be insurance more or less.

I do run an Accusump on the cricle track car as does Jim.  50 laps in a 3/8 mile circle does tend to throw everything a bit to the right.  At least that is the thinking behind it.  Although I am happy to admit it is one of those things you just do because someone else did and accept it as wisdom.

Interesting product – although we have all started engines that sat for years without such a thing.  I ran my Poly several years after reviving it form a 20 year slumber.  Also running a 472 Cadillac that had 150,000 miles on it before going to sleep for 20 years – that engine has fine oil pressure, does not smoke and has very little blow-by.

Quite the video here – although would be better if demo’d with an actual running engine – they simulate it with air pressure.  http://www.jegs.com/p/Moroso/Moroso-Oil-Accumulators-Accessories/745635/10002/-1

The part I don’t get – is this thing is supposed to save oil starvation from the oil pick-up – yet it contributes up to a quart or more of oil not being in the pan........  Kind of a contradiction...........
