Re: What is 65 Monaco engine vin numbers

The codes under AB on the US body tag -

60 - 383, 2-bbl
62 - 383, 4-bbl
70 - 413, 340 bhp
71 - 413, 360 bhp
80 - 426

The engine number on U.S. engines -
A38 - 383
A41 - 413
A42 - 426

The part number for the transmission should be stamped on the right side rail of the transmission.

1965 automatics used cables for the last time.  I know the A body cars still used the ball and trunion joint behind the transmission along with a rear oil pump, also for the last time.   The transmissions with a spline and cross U joint have only a front oil pump.

Cars with the a rear oil pump can be push started - the torque converter gets its fluid from the rear pump.
