Re: 8 3/4 Center Section Interchange?

Thanks Mike,

That is what it looked like to me, most of the information I found was swapping if they were limited slip.

I will check and probably change seals while doing the sway.  The differential was a junk yard one about 8 years ago that I put new seals and bearings in before I put it in the car.  As for the speedometer gear I'm running a Autometer speedometer and never found a pulse generator for the transmission so I am using a GPS pulse generator.  The transmission is a Borg Warner T-10.

Since you are dealing with open differentials I believe it would be a straight swap. Speedometer drive pinion may be your biggest problem. Don't forget to repack and adjust end play on those axle shaft bearings and check condition on grease seals too.

Hello,

I've been looking at a number of articles on Google but still have a question:

I have a 1965 differential in my car but it has a 741 open 2.93 ratio centersection.

I have an early 60's complete differential that has a 741 open 3.23 ration centersection.

I would really like to have the 3.23 ration centersection in my car.  The question is can I remove the centersection from the tapered axle differential and install it in my 1965 differential or do I need to swap the entire differential?

My car will not be abused so I am not concerned that I am running 741 centersections and I don't need sure grip.

Thanks
Dennis C.
