RE: Replacing the Headlamp/Light Switch on a '64 Ply B-body

Yes - been running a jumper to the dash light fuse for 6 years - ever since I discovered it when visiting 30 miles away from home at dusk - my dash lights are always on when the ignition is on now.

Have new parts on hand for when I am in there for any other reason:

Ignition switch (Standard US50)  /  Headlight switch  (Standard D5165T)

Replaced the high beam floor dimmer switch when I was in there doing the floor pan last winter.  (Standard D568T)

Could a bad light switch cause the dash lights to be dull?

There's a little button on the headlight switch. Put the switch in the off position, push the button, and hold it. Then pull the knob, shaft and all, out.

Loosening the switch from the lower dash is easy.

But how do you pull the switch out?

There is no set screw on the chrome knob so that it can be

removed and it is too big to pull through the hole in the lower dash.

Thanks,

Doug
