My '62 has the 8.75 with sure grip, 3.91:1 ratio, tapered axle (although it may not have been called by that trade name of "sure grip" yet then??) It also has 7 leaves in the springs on both sides, not just one.

Yes, as Mel pointed out, you could order the Max Wedge engine in any B-body if you got the dealer to check the appropriate order boxes. (1962-1964)

8 3/4 (with tapered axle) is what I recall.

Can't help on the glovebox question.
