Location: Georgia | Would a factory air '61 Plymouth have dashboard vents, or would it be a hang-down (under dash) unit?
I can't say that I've ever seen factory air in a '61 Plymouth, so any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!

With The 1961 Imperial Division they sold A/C at $590 per unit and they all
had A/C Vents attached to the lower part of the Dash in the "hang down"
manner.
When an Plaza may have had this option, I would say the design would be
a lil less than an Imperial.
Having reached my Automobile Interest years first in Lemoore and then Poway, I
have seen 61 Plymouth's with the Front Passenger Side mounted "Swamp Cooler".
In 1971'ish my dad's "Green Whale" was all over Poway with his "Swamp Cooler"
in the summer's.

Hi Pete, I almost bought a '61 Plymouth 4 door back in '04 and it DID have factory air! As I recall it did have squarish blower vents on top of the dash. IIRC, they resembled '61 DeSoto vents. I wish I would have taken pictures but I didn't. That is the only '61 Plymouth I have ever seen with factory air.

I am glad you guys "jarred" my memory. It was 10 + years ago that I had
the 61 Imperial. I completly forgot about the Two Upper Dash Vents.

I have never seen those style vents before. Are there any on the top driver side dash? There wouldn't seem to be any room.
Thank you again for the information!

Those dash top registers look very similar to the ones used on the '62-'63 B-body and they also had one on each side below the dash. Does the '61 have visible registers below the dash? |

I dont have a definate plan yet. Take it out for a drive every now and then as it is. I got a bunch of parts for all the options like the rear A/C, power seat, windows, all the stainless, PS, and the third seat. I'm debating if I should put in a longram 413 or a 612 Hemi. Neither engine has a home right now.

| I looked for A/C for a long time, one day I was pouring concrete at my house and the truck driver looked around and said "you like 61 plymouths?"
Then he said I could have the two in his pasture for $150 each. one had A/C. not bad |

Location: little rock, AR | I looked at a '61 Fury 4dr sedan yesterday that supposedly had a 413. I went and looked at it hoping I'd see a rare car ie. 413c.i. I opened the hood to find a 318 but this car did have a FACTORY A/C. I didn't have my camera but that was its only option besides a radio. No PS or PB. It was a straight car with very little rust that was a running and driving car. Black with a white roof. It was for sale for $3500.00. |

Location: little rock, AR | The floor pans were solid. I didn't look in the trunk. Seats had been recovered. Door panels were iffy. Over-all the car was solid. I was hoping it had the 413. |

Location: little rock, AR | I went back and looked at this '61 Fury. Was a lot worse looking after a very close inspection. Floor pans and trunk pans were holy and soft. No PS or PB but it did have the complete Factory A/C. |

My factory A/C 65 Coronet uses the same top dash vents. In 66 the vents were built into the dash face.
