I'm pretty sure they were regular incandescents, I will double check with Aivar since He owns about 4 of them (well one is a Matador), It had the lighted fins, but He used florescent tubes as He did not want Individual lite spots --that would be caused by using separate bulbs) Gary

Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | Looks like the same one at BJ '08 for $115K. The guy I bought my 58 Ply Conv from found that car before restoration for someone else. And it was a white car originally if it's the same one. These certainly had spaceship styling and a killer steering wheel too boot!

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | This car was one of the Jess Ruffalo collection ( potato farmer in midwest ) . He passed away a couple of years ago. The car was restored by Classic Heaven Restorations in Arizona, http://www.classicheavenrestorations.com/ One of the owners of the shop, Darrell Dubovsky, owns a couple of 60 Dodges, one of which is a red Polara convertible. The Fin Lights are definitely not electroluminescent, as I owned a 60 Polara with them. The bulbs are very small bulbs with one filament, like you would find in the dash board and are not connected to the brake lights .

Expert Posts: 2308 Location: The Bat Cave, Fairborn, OH | I remember that collection. Jess Ruffalo used to bring a brace of finned cars to the Iola Car Show every summer. I probably have pictures of some of them in my collection. I'm not sure what year he died; I think it may have been 2007, but the family brought a selection of cars from the collection to Iola that summer one last time before it was broken up and sold. Sad case.

I have pics of this same car with the centre cap spinners.

Adriana, if Kevin's car is a real D500, it will be listed-documented in Darrell Davis' 1960 Dodge D500 research book, based upon all of the D500s' VIN's. I would suggest that Kevin buy a copy of Darrell's book . Darrell's address is : ddavis8839@aol.com Edited by d500neil 2010-01-26 4:44 PM

Expert ,, George Passed away July 28th 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1295 Location: Twin Falls, Idaho | I believe this is the car that sold at BJ two or three years ago and had belonged to Jess Rufalo in WI. If so, it is not a real D500. He had the x-rams put on it when he had it restored at Classic Heaven in Tempe AZ. George

Expert ,, George Passed away July 28th 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1295 Location: Twin Falls, Idaho | Neil.... If it was Jess Rufalo's, it is not a D500. A guy named Lee in San Diego found it and sold it to Jess (it was white with a blue top) and Jess had Classic Heaven restore it with the crossrams. George

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | YEP, George; just checked with the 60 D500 Guru, Sean Machado, as I was not certain that this car was a clone, but Sean (too-) confirms that this car was not built as a D500 model. Congratulations, Adriana, on Kevin's car being a real D500 model.
