Y'all.
I have a question. We're talking about the floor of my DeSoto here, so if you haven't seen it, please refer to the pictures in my photo album. I haven't found any rot on these floors, but there is quite a bit of surface rust and some flaking in areas.
Someone mentioned to me under one of the pictures that I could probably get the floor pans finished in about a day. They didn't say how, though. My question is, how should I go about getting the floor pans cleaned up and ready to go? If I take the seats out, do I go after them with a wire wheel and a drill, or do I use a sander? Should I rent a sand blaster and do it that way?
After I have stripped the pans down to bare metal, what do you suggest I do next? Do I put down some kind of sealer? What works best?
Can this be done at home, or should I get a professional?
Thanks,
John

Okay...so, does POR-15 last a long time? Is this a cure-all for surface rust? Is this as good or better than sandblasting?

Better, because you don't remove any of the solid material. It converts and seals the rust into a rock hard surface. It is about the best of the so-called rust convertors. I believe they even guarantee that the item will not rust. You would have to check their catalog.

MIKE sorry but i have to disaggree with you------POR 15 is not a rust converter but an incapsulator------it seals it against oxidation------here's their site BUT you can also call and talk with one of their tech people if you have any more questions or misgivings------they seem very eager to help--------------later

The bad thing about getting their catalog is that you will see all the other cool things they offer and you'll wind up buying more than you wanted! lol They have this two part putty that is amazing.
