I'm a very steadfast believer in the "to each, his (or her) own" philosophy... And I always keep my negative remarks to myself when discussing other peoples prerogatives.
I'll continue to do just that... However, I will say that this thing's pretty darned um... uh.... er... Inventive... Yeah, that's the ticket... Inventive.

Well, right there in the picture, is a GM front sub frame ( or the whole frame.
mmmmm lotsa' body work!
You guys wanting to make HT's out of sedans, 2 doors out of 4 doors, look at the cutting/ sectioning/shortening/narrowing(?) look real close at THAT!
Don't think that was a real 'vert,,,,,?????? Those two black glob things where the top was cut,,,,,?

There was an old joke,,,, something like this; a couple of ATF agents looking for moonshie stills, clum (WV talk fer 'climb') clear to the top of a tree to get a better view. here an Indian squated down unter that tree and fired up his peace pipe.
Well the ATF guys had left their guns stacked behind another tree, and were afraid to climb down and confront the heavely armed indian.
Finally, one of the ATF agents had to piss real bad. He couldn't hold it much longer. His false teeth were starting to float.
So, he tried to direct the stream on the opposite side of the tree, but the wind blew the stream on the indian's head.
The Indian stood up, look around and siad, "Whoopee? Whoopee? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
I've heard the term used to descrive how far back up a holler (WV talk for Hollow. a valley between two steep hills) some lived.

In the north end of WV, the term 'hoopie' refered to a home made tractor.
WV farmer took one of the many vehicles up on blocks, cut the top off and welded another car tranny backwards to the exisiting tranny, and then welded a dual wheel big (preferbaly a 2 speed) truck read end to the end of the shortend car frame.
Something about the one tranny being reversed gave gear ratios in the 20 to one range.
To those who are real good in searching.
Back in the early '60's ? (I was in High School) a guy had built shuch a Hoopie/tractor out of a '50 Ch3vy. He wrote to Popular Science asking how many gears they thought he could have.
PS published his question. They even had a cartoon showing a guy on the roof of a '50 Ch3vy cutting in in two with a hand saw, and the wife running out trying to stop him.
I can't remember what their awnser was.
In growing up in rural WV I remember seeing many, many cars converted into home made tractors, and hearing them called 'Hoopies'
The Oldest that sticks into my mind was a VERY early 1920's Ch3vy car.

Location: cornpatch county, Southwest IOA | Yup Rick, we are on the same page. Dad referred to home built tractors, cut down cars with a box on the back , modified modle A's with tall wheels that rural mail carriers used to get through mud roads, and the like as HOOPIES.....over...... |
