Expert 5K+ Posts: 6517 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/cto/4889391308.html I have a dream today that someone who is a serious buyer off CL will contact me and buy this car :). I am a little flexible in the price but am not terribly off the mark. Finished cars go for 18k plus. If you are going to offer a used microwave, old mower, date with your sister, etc... nah. If you know how rare this car is and understand not having to mess with trying to title something like this is half the battle then contact me. If you only have the hubcap collection to barter and no budget, please pass this on by as you will not help make my "dream" come true. 1958 Dodge 2 door wagon. Minimal rust, no front clip. Clear title. If you know these cars or the 57/58 Sweptline truck you know how rare this is. Asking 3500.00, offer, trade. Also attaching pic of a "rat rod" concept based on a 2wd wagon for idea's. ***Update*** yeah I understand it is missing stuff. I understand it needs work. Do you understand the difference between a 2 door Suburban Wagon and a 4 door? Your 4 door might be mint....still isn't worth near as much as this ride. Same goes for any 4 door, just a fact of life. Thanks for the serious buyers (very few) who have taken the time to contact me, I appreciate it. Thanks!

Location: Parts Unknown | I don't see the issue. It IS a rare car. Methinks the issue is this hobby is spoiled for having inexpensive alternatives that we poo-poo a project like this. But honestly, for the money, if one really wanted a 2 door Dodge wagon, .... how much time and money would they spend trying to find a better one, as opposed to grabbing this one and rounding up the needed parts ? If I were to lose my mind worse than it already is, I'd like to build a 58 Fireflite 2 door wagon with a body like this.

Expert Posts: 3575 Location: Netherlands | I've never gotten the 'hype' about those 2dr wagons. I mean, from a practical standpoint, if you bought a wagon to haul stuff in, why would want to skip the 2 doors on the sides making access to the cargo easier? I've hauled some various stuff with my '62 NY 4dr hardtop wagon in the past and having the side doors was a blessing. If it would've been a 2dr wagon I would've had to crawl through the cargo-area from the rear door to put/get parts in there.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5028 | I don't think the price is nuts he just needs to come down to 1500$ , just the amount of work involved.. sitting outside in MN, the whole underneath is gone, interior is gone. Its basically just some sheetmetal, rust and a body shape. That's why he is pushing the "ratrod" sell. You'd pay 50k to restore an 18k car? or 10 years of your life..

Not to be negative at all (been spanked for that already) and just an observation, ever noticed that the people with strong feelings about this just maybe might own a four door? mikes2nd - 2015-02-15 9:11 AM You'd pay 50k to restore an 18k car? or 10 years of your life.. No,............... BOTH!

Location: Parts Unknown | I like the long, flat roof on the 2 doors, with the skinny, almost invisible pillars. I also like the utilitarian sales aspect they were marketed as. Often referred to as "handyman wagons", the idea was for hauling long items like pipe and lumber. The user was not as interested in seating or side access. As I said before, I'd love to build one as a long wheelbase DeSoto, maybe even go the extra mile and fill the rear glass with metal panels for a sedan delivery, so I could put a period graphic on the sides for a business: White Stork Diaper Service Telephone: Exeter 2 - 2100 Walt's Plumbing We Fix Your Leaks 24 Hour Service Riverside 9 - 3821 I am so impressed when I see a period coachwork ambulance or hearse like this with the sedan rear quarters (full fins) and SO disappointed with what the factory gave us with the aborted fins. I'd take a body like this, set it on a LWB wagon frame (maybe be forced to graft a wagon and a LWB frame ?) and do the quarters as they should have been done. Dog dishies and blackwalls ... no side trim, and a super UN-sexy monotone paint color ..... mmmmm ... my idea of a cool car.

Expert Posts: 1497 Location: Fairfax, Minnesota | I saw this vehicle or one just like it at a local car show. It started as a 4 door. I really like it. 2door wagons always catch my attention and make me stop and look. Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | This wagon has a lot of desirable OEM HD equipment on it, like, a sway bar, 6 leaf rear rear springs, the 952/953 torsion bars, 12"x 2 1/2" (?) brakes, plus the wagon-specific stuff like the glass...and, maybe, the Unobtanium hardboard interior panels. That said, and with the otherwise-few parts available with/on it, and the car's location, it's probably worth around $1,500.00 as-is/where-is. Edited by d500neil 2015-02-16 2:14 AM

Expert Posts: 3575 Location: Netherlands | You mean a stock swaybar, which is usually not strong enough... You mean 6 leaf springs, where you actually want/need at least 8 leafs for a wagon... You mean 12" brakes, where in this day and age you would want/need 12" discbrakes... You mean those warped hobo-interiorpanels, for that extra cheap look...

Expert 5K+ Posts: 6517 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | still for sale: Seriously (google map) (yahoo map) 1958 Dodge Suburban fuel : other transmission : other title status : clean •safety tips •prohibited items •product recalls •avoiding scams I have had people "tell" me "I am a serious buyer". See now that really does not work....I consider myself a vascular surgeon, a rocket scientist, an engineer, and a number of other things but me saying that and actually "being" that might be two different things. So you saying you are a serious buyer might not be correct. Prove it...buy the vehicle :). Pass side and rear glass broke, all other glass is good. Got an old push mower?? Hubcaps?? Coin collection???? Bring it on! For those of you fluid in sarcasm such as I will laugh with me. For serious buyers give me a jingle. Thanks! Six Oh Five Three 77 - 8860

That has to be one of the most condescending and hostile postings I've seen for MoPar products in awhile. It's no wonder the car hasn't sold.
