Veteran Posts: 112 | Looking to try and route our Vintage Air Freon lines through the same area that the factory did on the firewall so it does not interfere with anything. Working on a 1957 Dodge 2 door suburban. I see two dimples above where the heater hose shut off valve is. One dimple is above it and the second is to the right. Would this have been the factory ac line location or was that for another option? Thanks, Brian

Veteran Posts: 112 | Ok. Do we know what those dimples would have been for on the firewall above and to the right of the heater shut off?

Expert Posts: 3780 Location: NorCal | Here's how I routed the A/C hoses on my '57 wagon, easily routes to the under dash VA unit. I'm not sure if the firewall metal stamping is different itself, I'm tempted to say it isn't.

Veteran Posts: 112 | Was that where those two dimples areas were on the firewall above the heater shut off? I looked at that area too and was thinking about possibly using that area but wasn’t sure how much access I would have with the blower motor. Also, looks like your wagon is the same interior color as ours. Is your wagon a 2 door also?

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9729 Location: So. Cal | The wagon is the only body that I actually prefer 4 doors. The extra doors don't detract at all from its looks and are much better in terms of really using the car. Loading and unloading anything (kids or stuff) from the back is a pain with a 2dr wagon. Be grateful for that. I love your wagon in all black form, with all it's doors.

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | The firewall for cars built with A/C is different than cars built without it. I'm not exactly sure what area - the dimples - you are talking about. Maybe share a photo? Here is the firewall of my '57 Chrysler with factory A/C. You might compare it to what you have. I have photos of every A/C component I removed as well, if that helps.
