Expert Posts: 2338 Location: central oklahoma! | i have good news and bad news. the good news is, many people have expressed interest in getting together at stroud so we can all meet each other at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. YES, THIS WILL HAPPEN. the bad news is, the number of car show participants left me room on one hand to count. therefore, with great sadness, i must say that the car show, and the car show ONLY, is cancelled due to low participation. i had originally planned for the dinner to be on thursday at the best western motel, where some of you have made reservations. i still think this is the best plan, but i definitely want to see steve MOPARTOYA, and while i'm willing to do it on two nights, i'm sure steve would like to meet everybody he can, and not just me. i'm flexible, guys. however, i need to give an ACCURATE HEAD COUNT to the lady at the motel if we want her to make a buffet dinner for us. if you don't care and just want to order off the menu, i don't care either. however, the usual M-W-F lunch buffet is pretty good, and we can get it for thursday night if we ask for it. i'm sure we could get it for wednesday night, as far as that goes. the other major thing i want to see happen is the stroud-tulsa cruise. I NEED YOUR HELP. i have asked paula hale for assistance on this some months ago, and i have not heard back from her. the simple issue is, where do we park our cars when we get there? prepaid parking would be a simple, easy answer. PLEASE LET PAULA KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANT THIS. the so-called "cruise" up and down riverside is frankly nothing compared to an actual cruise up highway 66 from stroud to the courthouse front lawn. however, the centennial commission wants people to do this thing on thursday night because they don't have to do anything to make it happen. the cruise i have envisioned only requires parking, but that is frankly a non-issue. if we leave stroud at 8:00 a.m., we will be in tulsa by 9:00 to 9:15 AT THE LATEST. if you can't get from a parking space to the event within three hours you aren't trying. that's ridiculous. and frankly, what difference does it make if you wake up in tulsa and leave your motel room at 9:00? it's the same issue. the only reason that ANYTHING got started in stroud is because i was asked to do it because this board was frankly not getting answers early on, and i happen to be here. IF ANYONE STILL NEEDS A ROOM, CONTACT THE STROUD BEST WESTERN MOTEL DIRECTLY. if you want a cheap room, call the skyliner inn or the sooner motel. i am quite sure rooms are available, even now. PLEASE LET PAULA HALE KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO CRUISE FROM STROUD TO TULSA. perhaps they could have offsite parking with an airport van. i don't know, but there is no shortage of time to get there. in any event, please post your preference for dinner. if you want a lebanese steakhouse, that's an option, too.

Expert Posts: 4533 Location: Ripon, WI | I must say I am saddened, but... I do have another option, if anyone is wanting to tag along. My fiancee is a history major, and she is wanting to go to the memorial in Oklahoma City. If any of you are interested, we could do this as a day trip and stop at Stroud for either lunch or dinner either on the way or on the way back to Tulsa. Anyone have any thoughts or think they might want to attend?

Expert Posts: 2338 Location: central oklahoma! | I WILL BE "LOOKING FORWARD" TO SEEING YOU GUYS!!! lemme know what your dining preference is. if there is a small number, we can do the steakhouse if you want. if there are lots of us, the buffet would definitely be the way to go. PLEASE POST HERE, SO WE CAN MAKE PLANS. the buffet is not normally offered at night, so i've gotta make arrangements.

THURSDAY NIGHT DINNER IN STROUD SOUNDS GREAT TO ME... I'll be traveling with Mike McKenna (My57Saratoga) and his wife... as well as my fiancee, my grandmother, and a friend... We're expecting to hit Tulsa sometime Wednesday afternoon. If I can speak on Mike's behalf, that's a confirmed 6 folks for a THURSDAY EVENING get-together in Stroud. Just let us know as things continue to develop... Thanks, -NM

Elite Veteran Posts: 827 Location: Northwest Iowa | Even though I will not be driving my Plymouth I plan on arriving in Stroud on Wednesday afternoon. I checked my reservations at the Best Western that I had made over a year ago and they still had my name on a room so all is good to go there. A good buffet is very acceptable to me. I find it a whole lot better with a group of people, as that it uncomplicates order and billing screw ups. I hope to meet the whole bunch that is in attendance. See you all next week. J.W. Duhn

Veteran Posts: 168 Location: SD | We would go for a buffet dinner either Wed or Thu evening. Count us for 2-1/2 (2 adults and one child). However, we are leaving early Sat (tomorrow) morning, so I need to know if this thing is a go before we leave! Just name day-time-place. Would be cool to meet everyone. Jeff
