Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Who makes quality '57-58 DeSoto floorpans & trunk pans? For the big body, Firedome, Fireflites. Assuming they are the same as 57-58 (59 too?) New Yorker. Obviously the C2C Fabrication ones are junk. I see Sherman is making them, anyone have any experience with theirs?

Location: Parts Unknown | Just as a matter of reference, any Chrysler or DeSoto, 1957-59 will work for basic floor pans. Sedans, coupes, convertibles ... the basic flat sheetmetal parts are the same. Where it gets changed up is in the stanchions and supports for different body types, the convertible being the one I am familiar with, has a lot of extra supports spot welded to that common pan and when I replaced my original, I had to fabricate a whole bunch of these parts and weld them to the pan to make it convertible-correct. Remember, the differences in body length for these is between the front edge of the foremost door and the front wheel opening, so the floors are largely the same, at least for the flat metal.

Elite Veteran,, James Passed away March 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1028 Location: Melbourne, Australia | The Sherman Panels are C2C PANELS by the looks , just check the Photos . Stay away ! I have just done my trunk floor and a few floor sections on my 58 and I made and had made many of the pieces . The seat braces top and bottom and floor cross braces are made by a guy in finland (on ebay) But other than that the ones on the market aren't correct . Not even the hand made ones (cant remember his name ) . The swedes make panels but I gave up trying to buying anything there . Bottom line is if you own a 58 Desoto you are pretty much on your own with Parts, it is very challenging getting anything from any suppliers ! Make sure you love a challenge if you want to restore a 58 Desoto !

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5026 | most floorpans are not horribly hard to make. I think most everyone is making their own. The one guy makes them the price is pretty crazy(he was selling his business before).

Location: Parts Unknown | As a side note, what does the word "quality" mean without a qualifier ? Is that high quality ? ... poor quality ? ... fine quality ? .... pure sh!t quality ? Without a qualifier, "quality" is a meaningless word. Edited by Doctor DeSoto 2016-03-20 12:55 PM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9729 Location: So. Cal | This is a guy in Sweden that makes quality panels. But be warned, they're not cheap, especially when you take into account the shipping cost. http://www.blocket.se/vi/40709229.htm Nevertheless, his outside sheet metal is a lifesaver if you need lower quarter panels. If just the very bottoms of the quarters are rusted, you can use some good quality rocker panels as replacement sheet metal, as long as the wheel lip is still OK. For floors with manual seats, I would use the often rusted panel around the seat mount from the eriksson guy in Finland as well as to replace any of the floor braces that are rusted. This is the hardest part to get right on your own. Then just take flat sheet and have a shop put the beads and/or bends in the right locations for you to do the rest. I think that is the cheapest way to get it done. For floors with power seats, the only place I have heard to get the large troughs is from ?someone? in Sweden, but I haven't had any luck getting contact with anyone.

He didn't have them listed or pictured when I was doing my floors . I worked it out in AU dollars and they weren't that expensive , but with post would add up . Someone should ship a job lot of them to the US and sell them like Bo Malefors .

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Thanks guys. Thought the Sherman panels looked just like the C2C ones.... Powerflite, I had never seen those Swedish ones so thank you for posting that. Did you actually order some from him? Thankfully it's a manual seat, and floor isn't totally gone. And yea, I love a challenge. I'm used to dealing with Imperials, and no one makes anything for those except rockers.
