Location: Kansas City, Kansas | I was wanting to add a simple molding to the desoto to frame a new color sweep in the fin. My intent is to make it look like it could have been original to a common person, but will not match anything offered by the factory. I figure that somebody, somewhere makes a thin chrome (could be metal or plastic) moulding similar to what could be found at AutoZone to apply to new cars to reduce door-dings. It needs to be bendable to curve down to meet the original stainless trim on the car, that is why a plastic chrome is acceptable. I would think customizers would use this stuff often in mid-budget customs.
Any product links or dealers info would be appreciated. |

I'm surprised no one has responded by now.
Anyway. On a vehicle I'm fixing up, to keep my teaching supplies, and to use for class, in.
The OM combination chrome side trim door ding. The chrome has started peeling.
Dealer cost for OM replacemnt was OUTRAGIOUS!
So, I bought almost the exact replacement (same width, but slightly off on contour, foot away cant tell the differnce) 75' roll (needed 60 some feet to go all the way around the car) at one of the Auto Body supply stores.
NOT Auto Zone, etc. This place sells strictly to body shops.
Try there. |
