Location: Farmingdale NJ | Jason, under steady brake pressure you should feel the brake pedal "pulse" under your foot if the drum is warped. Its not that common for drums to warp from use. Rotors do it all the time as they wear out. If a drum is warped I would GUESS that it is from damage(accident, hit a curb, pothole)....or...because of the difficulty people have in pulling Forward Look drums for service, someone may have warped it being too aggressive with the wrong type puller. If you have a high speed shake, it more likely a balance problem somewhere. Unfortuneately it may not be in the drum or wheel. could be a universal joint or driveshaft too. But, to answer your question, unless you can mount the drum yourself on a fixture, turn it and check for runout with a dial caliper, you'll have to take it to a place that cuts drums and rotors and have them check it. |
