The '59 Coronet is now in the driveway. Drove it back the whole way home from NE Kansas to SE Wisconsin.

Had to make 3 emergency stops.
Down for a blown generator belt, Down for a blown heater hose, and down and almost out for a blown tire at 8:45 on a saturday night. Then there was the brake issues for for most of the trip.

Sometime I'll have to post the story of the guy who helped us with the tires issue. It will have you smiling and crying at the same time.

The motor has a bit of a sticky lifter noise that quickly went away as the car ran for a while. Driving without a working fuel gauge just added to the charm of the trip home. The car itself ran strong, easily maintaining highway speeds of 70 plus.

Instead of making it home by 7:00 pm it was more like 2:30 am. Great stories of traveling and repairs to her along Route 66. All told we wouldn't have done it any other way. What an experience for my daughter, brother, and myself.

No doubt that this is a very solid and restorable car. Happy to have her. First the brakes and other little mechanical gremlins, then enjoy the ride for a while before going nuts on a restoration.
